FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win over Kansas City on Saturday afternoon at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
Lauren Jansen powered the Bison (12-7, 6-3 Summit) with a match-high 13 kills to go along with four digs, three blocks and two service aces. She also registered a .480 hitting percentage on 25 attacks with only one error.
Cathy Porter, who made her first start of the season, posted a match-high 18 assists with eight digs and three service aces.
Rya Borer rounded out the top performers with a match-best 11 digs and six assists.
The Bison grabbed control of the opening set putting together a 4-1 run to make score 16-12 with an attack error. NDSU then assembled five straight points to push its lead to 23-15 after a block from
Ally Barth and Jansen. NDSU went on to win the set, 25-17.
NDSU carried the energy into the second frame doubling up Kansas City (3-20, 2-8 Summit), 14-7, with a service ace from Porter. The Bison extended their lead to 20-13 with a pair of kills from Barth and Jansen. NDSU used a match-best .609 hitting percentage to win the second frame, 25-16.
The Roos pushed back in the third set jumping out to a 7-2 advantage after an attack error. The Bison responded with an 8-1 run of their own to steal the lead, 14-11, following another ace from Porter. NDSU then put the match away closing out the set on an 11-2 run to win the frame, 25-14, and the match, 3-0.
NDSU will be back in action at Denver on Thursday night. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. CT
