FARGO, N.D. – Junior forward
Avery Koenen has been named an Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention, the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Koenen becomes the first Bison player in the NDSU Division I era to earn All-American honors and the 13th overall in program history.
Koenen ranks in the top 15 nationally in free throw attempts (3rd, 242), field goal percentage (4th, 64.7), double-doubles (7th, 20), free throws (8th, 175), defensive rebounds per game (10th, 8.5), rebounds per game (12th, 10.9) and rebounds (12th, 348).
Koenen is slotted tied for third on the Bison all-time single-season list with 624 points, which is the most in the NDSU Division I era. The Montevideo, Minn., native also ranks second on the single-season list in rebounds with 348, which is the most in the Division I era.
Earlier this season, Koenen was named a finalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award. She was also selected as the Summit League Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, while being named to the All-Summit League First Team, All-Defensive Team and All-Tournament Team.

The Bison earned a top seed in the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT) and will host Chattanooga in the first round on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m., inside the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex.
