Pastian Wins Summit League Hammer Throw Title on Day One

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State senior Kaden Pastian won the conference title in the hammer throw to headline the opening day of competition for the Bison track & field team at the Summit League Championships on Thursday.
Pastian claimed the Summit League title in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 207-5 (63.23m). He ranks eighth all-time at NDSU.
Jack Packer threw a personal-best 194-1 (59.16m) to place third in the hammer, and Logan Arason took sixth with a personal-best of his own.
NDSU's Aaron Cummings tied for third in the pole vault, clearing 17-02.25 (5.24m).
Zach McGlynn racked up 4,239 points to lead after Day 1 of the Summit League decathlon. It was the highest Day 1 point total of his career. Paul Olson has 4,130 points through the first five events, posting the top mark or second-best mark in the field for all five events Thursday.
Sophomore Tyler Milkes ran a personal-best 21.23 to qualify for the Summit League 200m final, ranking ninth-fastest in school history.
Carter Elde, Otto Anderson and Ramon Duran all advanced to the 400m hurdles final.
Several events were delayed Thursday due to high winds, and the javelin competition was pushed back to Saturday.
Day 2 of the Summit League Championships will continue Friday at the Terrence Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex.
