FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota State men's golf team heads to Wisconsin to compete in the Badger Invitational on September 27-29.

Tournament Schedule
The Badger Invitational will be a 54-hole tournament played over three days. Round 1 will be played on Sunday, with round 2 following on Monday and the final round being played on Tuesday.

The Tournament Field
19 teams will be competing at University Ridge in Madison, Wisconsin. Alongside NDSU and hosts Wisconsin, the rest of the field includes Illinois State, Western Kentucky, Western Carolina, North Dakota, Drake, Southern Mississippi, Valparaiso, Oakland, South Dakota State, Appalachian State, Green Bay, Ohio, Northern Illinois, South Dakota, St. Thomas, Omaha and Southern Illinois.

The Course
University Ridge Golf Course is located just outside of Madison, roughly 10 miles southwest of the University of Wisconsin's main campus. The course is the official home of both the Badger's men's and women's golf teams, opening in 1991 after being designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. The course derived its name from the ridge jutting through the course, left there by the Wisconsin Glacier during the last ice age. Stretching 7,286 yards from the back tees, the par 4's and par 5's are kept at a reasonable distance, but all five par 3's are 198 yards or longer. The front nine utilizes a 3-3-3 format with three par 3's, 4's and 5's. The signature hole is the 554-yard par five 16th. The tee shot is played downhill through the cottonwood trees, with a split fairway forcing an immediate risk/reward decision. Once out into the open, the green is heavily guarded by numerous bunkers and a lone cottonwood tree that stands guards in front of the pin.

Last Time Out
The Bison wrapped up their second tournament of the fall with a 14th place finish at the Wildcat Invitational in Manhattan, Kansas. First-year golfer Henry Johnson led the charge for the Bison, ending up just outside the top 20 at +7 overall. He carded five birdies and an eagle in round two on his way to a 71. Fellow first-year Peyton Albers finished in a tie at 57th overall, while Andrew Ballou finished in a tie for 63rd. Sean Moore and Carter White rounded out the group with finishes in 66th and 71st, respectively.

Bison In Wisconsin
The Bison return to the Badger Invitational for the first time in 10 years, last competing in the event in 2016. The Bison finished in 10th at +23 overall, firing rounds of 292, 296 and 299. Andrew Israelson led the way for NDSU, finishing in a tie for 12th at even-par. He fired a closing round 70, highlighted by five birdies over his first 11 holes. Will Holmgren also finished inside the top 20, ending in a tie for 19th. His opening round 69 set the tone, carding five birdies on his way to the lowest round of the tournament by a Bison.

Bison Competing
The Bison will take five golfers to Wisconsin for the tournament. The Bison lineup includes Carter White, Andrew Ballou, Joey Mackinac, Henry Johnson and Peyton Albers.

Golfer of the Week
Carter White earned his second Summit League Peak Golfer of the Week honors with his first collegiate victory at the America Needs Farmers Fall Classic, shooting a -9 overall. White's second round score of 65 (-7) is tied for the fourth-lowest round in program history. It is his second Golfer of the Week honor, the first coming in September 2025 when he earned Co-Honors with Jake Skarperud after they lead the Bison to a team victory and tied for third at the Bluejay Invitational.

Youth Movement
Three Bison, Rylin Petry, Jake Skarperud, and Gabe Benson all graduated at the conclusion of last season, ushering in a youth movement for the 2026-27 season. The Bison have three first year golfers in Elias Ekern, Peyton Albers and Henry Johnson, three returning second year golfers in Andrew Ballou, Joey Mackinac and Carter White, two returning third year golfers in Carter Spalding and Sean Moore and one third year transfer in Brogan Paschal.

Looking Ahead
The Bison will take a week off before returning to action at the Metropolis Intercollegiate. The tournament will be hosted by Columbia and will take place on October 12-13.
