NDSU Soccer Wraps Non-Conference Play at home vs. Florida Atlantic

FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State soccer returns home and will wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule on Thursday, September 10, welcoming in Florida Atlantic. Kickoff for the Bison and Owls is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT at Dacotah Field.

Admission & Parking
Admission to all NDSU soccer home matches is free. Parking is available in Lot R west of Dacotah Field after 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays and all day on Sunday. Additional parking is available in Fargodome lots C and D.
Series History
The Bison will face Florida Atlantic for just the third time in series history. It is the second-straight season the two teams have met, after FAU won 4-0 last season in Boca Raton on September 14. The Bison claimed the first meeting, winning 2-1 on September 10, 2010 in the Hurricane Cup at the University of Miami.
Last Season vs. Florida Atlantic
Florida Atlantic took the lead on the game's first shot in the third minute with a goal from Hailey Santiago. The Bison would answer with a couple shots that forced saves, including one that was tipped over the bar from Gabrielle Garrett.
However, The Owls would strike again on a counter attack in the 23rd minute as Sloane Young doubled FAU's advantage headed into halftime.
In the 61st minute, NDSU goalkeeper Payton Mulberry was knocked out of the game on a play that ultimately led to Florida Atlantic's third goal with Madison Micioni knocking it in. After a delay for over a half an hour, Young would score five minutes into the restart to cap the scoring for Florida Atlantic.
Florida Atlantic led 10-5 in shots. NDSU had five corners to four from the Owls. Payton Mulberry finished with two saves before leaving the game.
Russmann Claims Performer of the Week, Moves into Top 5 In Goals
Morgan Russmann tallied a pair of goals and assisted on a pair of goals as well in California, helping the junior to earn her third Summit League Peak Performer honor of her career.
Thursday's goal moved Russmann into a tie for fifth with Quin Ryan at 20 career goals in the Division I era. On Sunday, her fourth goal of the season moved her into a tie with Anisha Kinnarath for fourth at 21.
Stanchina, Garrett score First Goals of Season
Bison seniors Ava Stanchina and Gabrielle Garrett scored their first goals of the season on Sunday to help NDSU erase a 0-2 deficit and tie UC Santa Barbara 3-3. For both, the goals were the first in over a year.
Stanchina's last goal came in a come-from-behind win for NDSU over Oral Roberts in the title winning season in 2024. The defender started the rally at UCSB, scoring in the 53rd minute to get NDSU on the board. Garrett's last goal was in August of 2025, helping the Bison defeat Concordia-St. Paul 3-0
Looking Ahead
With the conclusion of non-conference play, North Dakota State has reached a two-week break from competition. The Bison will return to action and open up Summit League play on Thursday, September 24, traveling north to Grand Forks to take on North Dakota. Kickoff between the Bison and Fighting Hawks is set for 3 p.m. at Bronson Field.
