Jim Robbins enters his second season as an assistant coach for the NDSU women's soccer team.
He helped the Bison claim their second consecutive Summit League regular season title in 2016.Â
Robbins comes to NDSU from Long Island University Brooklyn in Brooklyn, New York, where he served as the head women’s soccer coach for the past two seasons.
Prior to becoming the head coach at LIU Brooklyn, Robbins spent five years as the head coach at LaGrange College in LaGrange, Ga., where he helped the Panthers qualify for the Great South Athletic Conference postseason tournament in four of his five seasons. He was named the Great South Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2010 and led LaGrange to the GSAC tournament championship game for the first time in program history in 2011. During the 2012 season, Robbins’ team tied the program record for wins in a season with nine.
Before his time at LaGrange College, Robbins spent two years as the head women’s soccer coach at Oxford College of Emory University in Oakland, Ga., and three years as the top men’s soccer assistant coach at Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J.
He served as the head boys’ varsity soccer coach at The Pennington School in Pennington, N.J., from 1994-1999, where he posted a 64-40-5 record in five and a half seasons. Â
Robbins holds the United States Soccer Federation ‘A’ coaching license, the highest certification available in the U.S. He also has the NSCAA Premier Diploma and NSCAA Goalkeeper 1 Diploma.
He currently serves as a staff coach for United States Girls’ Soccer National Team and has assisted with the Olympic Development Program for the past 19 years.
Robbins graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., in May, 1992, with a Bachelor of Arts in economics and business before earning his Master of Arts in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University in Irvine, Calif., in May, 2014.
