Team Captains Announced for 2005 North Dakota State Football Team

North Dakota State University head football coach Craig Bohl announced the captains for the 2005 season at his weekly press conference Monday. On offense, No. 11 quarterback Steve Walker and No. 16 tackle Tim Popowski were selected, while No. 28 linebacker Kole Zimmerman, No. 91 defensive end Alvin Robinson and No. 20 strong safety Craig Dahl were named.
Walker, a 6-foot-0 1/2-inch, 207-pound sophomore from Lockport, Ill. (Lockport Township H.S.), started the final three games of the 2004 season and led NDSU to three wins including victories over nationally-ranked Northwestern State and UC Davis. He completed 47-of-60 passes for 705 yards, 10 TDs and no interceptions.
Popowski, a 6-foot-2, 310-pound senior from Brookings, S.D. (Brookings H.S.), has started in 26 games over his first three seasons. He was a 2004 All-Great West Football Conference first team selection, and also named to the academic all-league team.
Zimmerman, a 5-11 1/2, 221-pound senior from Windom, Minn. (Windom H.S.), started in 11 games at linebacker last season. An academic all-district and all-conference pick, he made 53 tackles including 25 solo stops. Zimmerman also plays for the Bison baseball team.
Robinson, a 6-foot, 240-pound senior from Sumrall, Miss. (Sumrall H.S./Pearl River C.C.), started in 11 games at defensive end in 2004 and made 47 tackles. He is a preseason all-GWFC first team choice by several media outlets entering this season.
Dahl, a 6-1, 207-pound junior from Mankato, Minn. (Mankato East H.S.), earned first team all-conference and third team all-region honors at strong safety last season. He led NDSU with 44 solo tackles and was second on the team with 82 total. Dahl finished with four tackles for loss, three interceptions, three fumble recoveries and one sack.
