RIVERSIDE, Calif. –
Deborah John,
Morgan Milbrath,
Ashley Tingelstad and
Antoinette Goodman teamed up to break the North Dakota State school record in the 4x100m relay by over six-tenths of a second as the Bison women's track & field team competed at the UC Riverside Spring Classic on Saturday, March 29.
John, Milbrath, Tingelstad and Goodman won the 4x100m relay in 44.85 seconds, destroying the previous school record of 45.46 set at the Summit League Championships last season. It was only the fourth time in school history that a 4x100m relay team finished under 46 seconds, and the performance likely locked up a spot for the Bison at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds.
NDSU's 4x100m time is ranked 16th in the nation.
Tingelstad also raced to the second-fastest time in NDSU history in the 100m dash, finishing second in 11.65 seconds – just one-hundredth of second behind Goodman's school record of 11.64 set last weekend.
Goodman won the 200m title on Saturday, crossing the line in 24.05. Tingelstad placed third in 24.14, and Milbrath clocked a time of 24.42 to move to No. 7 on the NDSU all-time list in the event.
NDSU junior
Paige Stratioti used a strong finishing kick to win the 400m in a time of 54.30. Sophomore
Brittany Stangl claimed the pole vault title with a personal-best clearance of 12-03.50 (3.75), tying her for sixth all-time at NDSU.
Anna Benke cleared the same height and finished fourth based on the number of misses.
John ran 13.81 seconds in the 100m hurdles for second place in her outdoor debut.
Redshirt freshman
Amy Andrushko (2:13.33) and freshman
Jenny Guibert (2:13.91) took second and third, respectively, in the 800m.
Andrushko, Goodman, Stratioti and Milbrath recorded a time of 3:40.71 for second place in the 4x400m relay, claiming the No. 8 spot on the Bison all-time best list.
Bison junior
Ashley Heinze clocked a near-personal best of 1:01.42 for third place in the 400m hurdles.
The Bison will compete next at the Stanford Invitational on Apr. 4-5.
