Photo GalleryFARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team saw two throwers extend school records on a day of strong performances at the Lyle Hokanson Classic hosted by NDSU at Schlanser Track on Saturday, Apr. 12.
Redshirt freshman
Katelyn Weimerskirch tacked another 10 inches onto her school record in the discus, throwing 160-08 (48.97m) to win the event. Sophomore
Sierra Rosenau claimed a title of her own in the javelin, adding nearly two feet to her school record at 157-06 (48.01m) and setting a new facility record in the process. Weimerskirch and Rosenau set both previous school records at the Stanford Invitational just one week ago.
Rosenau's javelin mark ranks among the top 40 in the NCAA this season.
Indoor All-Americans
Ashley Heinze and
Morgan Milbrath turned in impressive performances in the 400m hurdles, with Heinze winning in 1:00.35 and Milbrath second in 1:00.51. Heinze jumped from sixth to third on the NDSU all-time list in the event, while Milbrath now ranks fifth in school history.
Bison sophomore
Erin Teschuk claimed the Lyle Hokanson Classic title in the 3,000m steeplechase with one of the top times in school history. Teschuk won in 10:25.71, putting her at No. 3 on the NDSU all-time list and among the top 40 in the nation this season.
Senior hurdler
Deborah John set a new track record and season-best time by winning the 100m hurdles in 13.67 seconds.
John, Milbrath,
Ashley Tingelstad and
Antoinette Goodman recorded the third-fastest 4x100m relay time in school history and set a new track record in 45.26 seconds. Tingelstad also won the open 100m dash in 11.76 seconds.
Caitlin Mack and
Brittany Stangl both cleared 12-03.50 (3.75m) in the pole vault to share the top mark. Junior
Emily Lesser, competing unattached, won the shot put with a toss of 48-01.75 (14.67m).
NDSU senior
Faith Kruchowski finished first in the 800m with a time of 2:10.94. Freshman
Taylor Janssen claimed a runner-up finish in the 1500m in 4:46.98, and redshirt freshman
Amy Andrushko placed third in the 400m dash in 57.33 seconds.
Andrushko,
Jenny Guibert,
Paige Stratioti and Goodman teamed up to win the 4x400m relay comfortably in 3:46.55. Goodman also jumped 18-05.00 (5.61m) in the long jump for second place.
True freshman
Jordyn Thornton posted a throw of 142-03 (43.36m) for third place in the discus, falling just outside the Bison top-10 list. Bison redshirt freshman
Allie Lahren used a personal-best mark of 36-09.50 (11.21m) in the triple jump to take fourth place.
NDSU returns to California next week for a series of meets that includes the Mt. SAC Relays.
