Three More Records Fall at Drake Relays for Bison Women

Results  |  Kip Janvrin Open Results

DES MOINES, Iowa – The North Dakota State University women's track & field team continued its record-breaking ways, setting three more NDSU all-time bests at the 105th Drake Relays on Friday, Apr. 25, at Drake Stadium.

The Bison set new school records in the 4x400m relay, 4x200m relay and javelin on Friday.

Morgan Milbrath, Ashley Heinze, Antoinette Goodman and Ashley Tingelstad combined to run 3:34.64 in the prelims of the 4x400m relay, trimming two tenths of a second off the previous NDSU record of 3:34.84 set at the Mt. SAC Relays one week ago. The Bison advanced to tomorrow's final in the event with the third-fastest time in the field.

NDSU now stands at 12th in the nation this season in the 4x400m relay. Saturday's final will feature five teams ranked in the top 13 in the country and seven teams in the national top 25 in the event.

Milbrath, Tingelstad, Rose Jackson and Goodman destroyed the NDSU 4x200m school record by more than two seconds, placing third overall in 1:35.48. Only Notre Dame and Kansas posted faster times on Friday, and NDSU's time stands 10th in the nation this season in the relay. The previous record of 1:37.75 was set by Deborah John, Brittany Page, Tingelstad and Goodman at the 2013 Drake Relays.

Bison sophomore Sierra Rosenau tacked another six inches onto her school record in the javelin, placing fifth overall at 158-0 (48.16m). It was the third time this season that Rosenau improved upon the NDSU all-time best mark she set last year as a freshman. The Carrington, N.D., native is ranked 36th in the NCAA this year.

Paige Stratioti clocked the second-fastest 800m of her career in 2:06.04, good for sixth place overall at Drake, and was held out of the 4x400m relay prelims. Stratioti will likely join the relay team for tomorrow's final.

Heinze ran the second-fastest 400m hurdles time of her career, finishing in 1:00.22 for 12th place overall. Senior Deborah John placed 13th in the 100m hurdles in 13.77 seconds.

Bison redshirt freshman Katelyn Weimerskirch took 10th place in the discus with a mark of 149-2 (45.48m).

At the Kip Janvrin Open hosted by Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, senior Faith Kruchowski won the 800m in a meet-record time of 2:09.88. Ashlynn Simon was the runner-up in 2:12.58.

Competing unattached at the Kip Janvrin Open, junior Maddie McClellan ran 10:15.09 for the win in the 3,000m steeplechase – a mark that would have broken the NDSU school record had McClellan been competing under the North Dakota State name. Sophomore Erin Teschuk was the steeplechase runner-up in 10:28.14.
