Bison Women Break School Records in Discus, Two Relays at Stanford

Stanford Invitational Complete Results

STANFORD, Calif. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team broke school records in three events at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 5. The Bison posted the school's all-time best times in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays, and redshirt freshman Katelyn Weimerskirch set a new NDSU record in the discus. Junior Paige Stratioti recorded one of the nation's top times in the 800m.

Combined with Sierra Rosenau's javelin record on Friday at Stanford, the Bison women set four school records in the meet.

Deborah John, Morgan Milbrath, Ashley Tingelstad and Antoinette Goodman started the day by running 44.81 in the 4x100m relay to break the school record for the second time in as many weeks. The quartet shaved four-hundredths of a second off their time of 44.85 last weekend at UC Riverside to rank 15th in the country.

Milbrath and Tingelstad later teamed up with juniors Ashley Heinze and Paige Stratioti to continue their record-breaking ways in the 4x400m relay. After shattering the indoor 4x400m record three times and qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championships, the Bison women claimed the outdoor record by running 3:36.29 on Saturday. Their time was an improvement of 1.8 seconds over the previous mark of 3:38.09 set in 2012 by Melissa Kitching, Stratioti, Ashlynn Simon and Goodman.

The Bison 4x400m relay now ranks 13th in NCAA Division I this outdoor season.

Weimerskirch took the NDSU school record in the discus from teammate Emily Lesser by throwing 159-10 (48.73m) at Stanford on Saturday. Lesser's previous record of 159-6 was set last spring. Weimerskirch now stands among the top 60 in the nation in the discus this season.

Stratioti posted arguably the top performance of the day for the Bison, finishing the 800m in a lifetime best 2:05.94 for second place behind only 2011 World Championships finalist Maggie Vessey. Based on marks entering the day, Stratioti now ranks fourth in the nation this season. She becomes the fourth woman in NDSU history to run the outdoor 800m in under 2:06.

Goodman placed third in the 200m dash in 23.82 seconds. Tingelstad ran 24.31 for 10th place, and Milbrath posted a personal-best time of 24.34 for 11th place. Milbrath moved up to No. 6 on the NDSU all-time best list in the event.

Caitlin Mack and Brittany Stangl both cleared 12-06.25 (3.82m) in the pole vault, with Mack placing second and Stangl fourth.

John placed fourth in the 100m hurdles in a season-best 13.68 seconds that ranks among the nation's top 50.

Bison senior Faith Kruchowski posted a time of 2:10.29 in the 800m for 26th place. Amy Andrushko ran 2:12.84, Erin Teschuk ran 2:13.32, and Jenny Guibert ran 2:13.73.
