Paige Stratioti opened competition for the Bison women's track and field team at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday evening, placing 19th in the semifinals of the 800m run at historic Hayward Field.
The Duluth, Minn., native clocked a time of 2:06.62 – the fourth-fastest time of her career – but was not able to race her way into the eight-woman national final in the event. Stratioti entered the meet ranked 24th in the field and outperformed her rank by five places.
By virtue of her 19th-place finish, Stratioti will garner honorable mention All-American honors – the first individual All-American recognition of her career.
It was the first NCAA Outdoor Championships appearance for Stratioti, who ran on the Bison 4x400m relay that earned second-team All-American honors this indoor season.
