AUSTIN, Texas – The North Dakota State men's track & field team continued competition at three meets in Texas and California on Thursday.
In Austin, Texas, NDSU senior Ryan Enerson closed the Texas Relays decathlon with a 1500m personal-best of 4:49.64. He finished with the second-best decathlon score of his career – 6,947 points for 13th place in the meet.
Bison sophomore Alex Talley registered a hammer throw personal-best of 204-1 (62.22m) at the Texas Relays, ranking seventh all-time at NDSU in the event. Sophomore Jacob Slate threw 194-6 (59.29m) to just miss a spot in the NDSU all-time Top 10.
At the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in Hayward, Calif., senior Camron Roehl clocked an eight-second PR in the 3000m steeplechase. His time of 9:08.06 moves him up to ninth all-time at NDSU. Sophomore Alex Bartholomay cut more than 17 seconds off his previous best in the steeplechase, running 9:13.96.
At the Texas State Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas, junior Ben Klimpke put up the second-best Day 1 decathlon score of his career – 3,663 points – to hold first place going into the final five events. Bison redshirt freshman Tyler Enerson is in fourth place with 3,279 points, and senior Daniel Asa is sixth with 3,260.
All three meets continue on Friday.
