Hicks Leads After Day One of Summit League Championship

MESA, Ariz. – Madi Hicks is the sole leader of the 2026 Summit League Championship guiding the North Dakota State women's golf team to sit in fourth place following the opening round of play at Longbow Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.
Hicks (72) stands alone at the top of the leaderboard, holding a one-shot lead after the first 18-holes of play. Hicks opened the round with six straight pars to lead the team with 13 total on the day. The senior picked up a pair of birdies on hole 8 and 13 to finish +1 on the day.
Jeri Lafleche (76) is positioned just outside the top 10 following the first round. Lafleche opened her first Championship round with a birdie and logged a second birdie on hole eight, along with 10 pars for the round. Lafleche is locked in a tie for 11th at +5 heading into the second round.
Cora Larson (77) and Avery Bartels (78) carded the final scoring rounds for the Bison on day one. Larson was even through 10 holes with a birdie on hole 11 to finish +6 on the day. Bartels recorded nine pars and a birdie on hole eight to finish +7 for the first round. Larson is tied for 15th and Bartels is tied for 20th going into round two.
Norah Roberts (79) is the final NDSU golfer for the round. Roberts is tied for 22nd after finishing +8 on day one.
The Bison (303) logged a round of +19 to finish fourth after the opening day of play. South Dakota State (298) is the current team leader, finishing +14 on the day.
