Jake Nystrom

  • Title
    Assistant Coach

Jake Nystrom is an assistant coach with the North Dakota State women’s golf team, where he focuses on performance analytics, strategy, and mindset. By blending statistical insight with real-time coaching, he helps athletes translate preparation into lower scores and stronger finishes.

Since joining the program in 2024, Nystrom has served alongside head coach Matt Johnson and assisted in guiding a lineup that not only improved its team scoring average and win–loss record but also saw individual breakthroughs. Returning players lowered their scoring averages year over year while some have doubled their top 10 finishes. Collectively, the Bison turned in more rounds under par and stronger tournament finishes compared to the previous season.

Nystrom played on the baseball team at the College of St. Scholastica, earning conference Pitcher of the Year and All-Region honors as a four-year starter before graduating in 2013. His experience as a captain and student-athlete shapes his approach to developing golfers at the Division I level. He volunteers his time to NDSU in official capacities.

He and his wife, Ellen, live in Fargo with their son and are expecting a baby girl to join them in the fall of 2025.
