The Tournament Field
12 teams will compete at Metropolis Country Club in White Plains, New York. Alongside NDSU and hosts Columbia, teams in the field will include Lafayette, Yale, Iona, Siena, Holy Cross, Cornell, Towson, Fordham, Dartmouth, and Bryant.
The Course
Metropolis Country Club boasts a rich history of golf, dating back to the initial construction headed by architect Herbert Strong in 1904. A.W. Tillinghast led significant enhancements of the course in the 1920s, before noted architect Ron Forse led a comprehensive restoration in 2013. Sitting at 6,878 yards from the championship tees, the course utilizes picture-perfect bunkers, strategic doglegs and uneven lies to keep golfers honest. The signature hole is the 6th, a 441-yard par 4. The elevated tee shot falls into the valley below, as the hole banks hard down and to the left. With numerous trees on the left, many golfers favor the more open right side with their drive. The downhill second shot proves more difficult than expected, as both a small pond and a well-placed bunker guard the front of the green. The putting surface provides no recourse however, as a ridge splits the green in two and forces unconventional approaches to finding the bottom of the cup.
Last Time Out
The Bison jumped four spots on the final day of the Badger Invitational as all five individuals moved up the leader board during the final round. Peyton Albers earned his second top ten finish in just his third career collegiate tournament, highlighted by an opening round 68 and a front-nine 33 on day three. Joey Mackinac tied his career-low 54-hole score with a 220 and tied his career-low 18-hole score with a 71 on day one. First year golfer Henry Johnson rocketed up the leader board in round three with a four-under 68 that featured five total birdies.
