Fast Start Propels NDSU Baseball Past Oral Roberts, 11-3

TULSA, Okla. – The North Dakota State baseball team scored seven runs over first four innings to help pick up an 11-3 win against Oral Roberts on Sunday afternoon at Chapman Park.
Chase Womack got the Bison (8-26, 5-10 Summit) off to a fast start after he launched a two RBI home run to left field for the 2-0 lead in the second inning. NDSU then erupted for five runs in the fourth inning after Bennett Freiter connected on a two RBI single and Tyman Long delivered a three RBI home run to left field to extend the lead to 7-0.
After Makani Tanaka put Oral Roberts (25-17, 16-3 Summit) on the scoreboard with an RBI single in the fifth, Long added his second home run of the game to left field. The solo shot pushed the Bison lead to 8-1 in the eighth inning. The Bison then added three more runs on two hits in the ninth to increase the lead to 11-1 after Tommy Simon reached on an RBI fielder's choice. NDSU went on to hold off Oral Roberts the rest of the way for the 11-3 victory.
The Bison totaled 11 hits as a team with four players logging multiple hits. Long went 2-of-5 at the plate with a career-best five RBI and posted his first career multiple home run game. Kyle Law also went 3-of-3 at the plate with a career-high three runs.
Jonah Walker (2-3) made the start tossing two strikeouts with three walks and one run across 5.0 innings. Hudson Hart added three strikeouts with one walk over 3.2 innings, while Cade Wiegert closed out the final inning with one strikeout.
NDSU will be back in action at Creighton on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m.
