Honors: North Central Conference Most Valuable Pitcher in 2000 and 2002 (missed the 2001 season with an injury)…All-Central Region both years … 2003 National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America Preseason All-American … 2002 National Comeback Player of the Year…Three-time All-North Central Conference first team…One of only four players in NDSU history to achieve that feat including HOF inductees Dick Marsden and Tom Assel.
Stats/Comments: Program's all-time leader with 24 wins (24-10)… Set career records for starts (38), complete games (25), shutouts (5) and strikeouts (265)…Pitched a one-hitter at Nebraska-Omaha in 2002…His 1.40 ERA in 2002 was second-best in school history…His 82 strikeouts in 2000 were second most and still rank fifth at NDSU…School-record eight complete games in 2000 and seven in 2002…Set NDSU records for fewest walks per nine innings in a season (1.53 in 2003) and career (2.63) … Native of Wahpeton, N.D., he was member of 1996 American Legion state championship team … Career .408 hitter and threw three one-hitters … All-conference quarterback for football team … Compiled a 36-17 record and 4.33 ERA over six seasons (2003-2008) in the Northern League for the F-M RedHawks and was named to the club's 10th Anniversary Team … Starting pitcher for 2004 Northern League All-Star Game … Member of two Northern League championship teams … Currently plays for amateur baseball team Moorhead Brewers … Currently a Managing Broker for Kilbourne Commercial Real Estate … Previously, a sales manager for Courts Plus Fitness Center (2008-13) and a mortgage broker (2004-10) … Mike and his wife, Brittany, have two children, Jett William and Cal Michael.
